Tips for a Stress-Free Day

How to Prepare for your Senior Session

Your senior photo session is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture your personality, achievements, and excitement for the future. Preparing for it can make all the difference in how your photos turn out and ensure you feel confident on the big day. Here are some essential tips to help you get ready:

Plan Your Outfits in Advance

Start planning your outfits well ahead of time to avoid last-minute stress. Try everything on for a complete test run at least a week before your session. Make sure your outfits fit well and check for any missing details like shoes, accessories, or appropriate undergarments. Ladies, pay extra attention to avoiding visible bra straps!

Hair + Nails

Make sure to schedule a haircut about 1–2 weeks before your session. A fresh cut is always great, but give it a little time to settle into a natural look so it’s not too sharp or new.

Ladies, you might want to book a manicure 1–2 days before your session. Clean, polished nails (whether natural or with a pop of color) can subtly elevate your look.

Practice Hairstyle and Makeup

Ladies, practice your makeup look a few days before your session to ensure you feel comfortable and confident. The same goes for your hair — decide how you want to style it for the day and think about small ways to change it up between outfits, like adding a braid or swapping out accessories. Practicing ahead of time will help you avoid surprises and give you more time to enjoy your session.

Anti-Glare Glasses Are a Must

If you wear glasses, make sure they’re anti-glare to avoid distracting reflections in your photos. If you don’t have anti-glare lenses, consider borrowing a pair of frames or temporarily removing the lenses to eliminate glare during the session.

Bonus Tips for a Relaxed Photo Day

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water the day before and avoid anything too salty to keep your skin glowing.

Pack a Bag: Bring essentials like a small comb, makeup touch-up tools, a lint roller, and any extra accessories.

Get Rested: A good night’s sleep before your session will leave you looking refreshed and feeling ready to shine.

Bring a friend: Bringing a parent or friend, someone that you will have a good time with and would be great at looking out for you, is a great addition to your photo day. They add a fun element to help you feeling confident + natural, and are an extra set of eyes if anything is out of place!

Your senior photos are a celebration of you, so take the time to prepare and enjoy the process! With a little planning and attention to detail, you’ll feel relaxed, confident, and ready to capture this exciting milestone.
